About

Join Island City Lab in conversation with Dr. Norman Garrick, as we explore how accessible urban policies can create livable cities, and vibrant public spaces, promote walkable and bikeable communities, and foster a sense of place and community in Kingston

Kingston's current car-dependent transportation system has created an environment that is placeless. It has disconnected communities, reduced access to essential services and amenities, and diminished the quality of public spaces, contributing to an overall lack of identity and character in the city.

This webinar will explore the relationship between land use, accessibility, and placemaking in Kingston. We will examine how current policies and investments have contributed to car dependency and a disconnected urban environment, consider alternative approaches that prioritize people over cars, and make it easier to get to the places and things they need to.

This forum was made possible by generous support from the Open Society Foundations.
